You get the idea?
The Thompson Twins - had three members, none of whom were related, or mistakable for twins.
The Beautiful Girls - are all boys
Try to avoid the absolutely silly (Like Black Sabbath were white, Crazy Elephant were sane and not pachyderms).
I want names that you could reasonably interpret to say indicate something about the band that was patently not true with further investigation.
Thinking caps on!
Aerosmith...has nothing to do with Sinclair Lewis.
The Mamas and the Papas
The Blues Brothers.
The Allman Brothers (after the bike accident)
Weren't the phillips's parents?
10,000 Maniacs
Eagles (humans)
Rat (humans)
Judas Priest (huh?)
Quiet Riot (hah!) (not either)
Twisted Sister (not sisters, fer sure)
Motorhead (none were engineer/mechanics)
Spinal Tap (haha!)
Another sigh
I only want bands when the name could reasonably be expected to be descriptive of the band or their sound. Otherwise just list every band you know... Pink Floyd, Love, Smashing Pumpkins, Eagles of Death Metal, The Carpenters, Trotting Ducks - just ridikulus.
Come on now - let's think about this people....
Ben Folds Five - were a trio
Even if the Phillips were parents that doesn't make it plural for mamas and papas in the group.
You have to admit "The Carpenters" sounds like it could be the Village People without the Indian and the Cop.
Although if you are going to offer up a critique every answer I don't think you will get many more people answering.
Timbuk Three -- there were only two of them as I recall.
Since we are in that period..
Tony Orlando and Dawn..
Not only did Dawn not have a last name, she had a very split personality.
Dr Hook - The Captain had a hook, why wouldn't the Dr?
Talking Heads - They aren't a Fox News show.
Doobie Brothers - No brothers even though you might see 2 of everyone on the stage if you indulged too much in their name.
Starland Vocal Band - "Afternoon Delight" wasn't just an oral event. There was a lot of strumming and thumping going on during it too.
I think Eagles of Death Metal complies with the rules, that's not Death Metal what they play.
Age of Evil- young guys from Ca., and they're not evil at all!
Bloodhound Gang- is not a gang of bloodhounds
The Flying Pickets-- no, they're not!
Pretty Maids-- no, they're not!!
I'm not playing Adolf, I was just more interested in bands whose names imply one thing (reasonably) but whose circumstance and/or music contradicts that implication. Otherwise you could put up just about every band name and that seems pointless.

Here's your ball back. <walks away, whistling Round and Round>
T-Rex - weren't dinosaurs
<runs and hides from HH>
Alice Cooper - obviously not a female

Actually, according to the UK punks in 1976 THEY WERE DINOSAURS!!!!
