[resolved]Some feedback on reopening locked threads, please.

I miss visiting one of my regular threads, which was locked on the 9th of October. It was locked (I assume) because of provocative behaviour on the part of a member, not the thread instigator. (Don't worry, I'm not going to name names here. )

What I'd like to know is:

What needs to be done to restore a thread after it has been locked?

Is there some prescribed "cooling off" period of time that is usually observed prior to restoring the thread?

Is the instigator of the locked thread required to "formally" request that the moderators reinstate the thread, or does it just happen automatically?

What's the best way to go about it?

Thanks,
Olga

I just tried to do this, in response to your suggestion, dadpad.

I can't get through to the help desk. My password is apparently not being accepted, as I'm being required to register it again & again. Frustrating.

Anyway, all I want to know is how to reinstate a locked thread after (apparently) the problem for it being locked in the first place has been resolved. Fairly straight-forward, really.

I have brought this thread to the moderators attention through the help desk reporting feature msolga.

Thanks, dadpad.
I thought posting to forum help would have done that.

Msolga the mods are aware of your request due to my report. I received this reply.

Understood, but unless she gives a link or the topic title name, we have no way of knowing which topic it is or even if the matter truly is resolved.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

The Support Team at www.able2know.com

This is weird, dadpad.
I can't figure out why a moderator is giving advice to you about a request from me for forum help. Confused

I just figured there must be procedures in place for reopening closed threads & was keen to know what was required.
And I deliberately didn't mention the name of the thread here, because I didn't want to personalize my request for information.

Incidentally, I contacted the moderators twice about the behaviour of a member on this thread prior to it being closed & didn't receive a response at the time. (I figured that was as a result of work being done on A2K, as there have been no receipt notifications when I've reported spam, either. This is the main reason I've posted the request to forum help.)

Anyway .... So now I should send my request to the support team? I hope this works, because when I tried that yesterday my password kept being rejected.

Because I reported the thread, which I did to draw mods attention to the thread on your behalf because you were unable to log in.

You remember that it's a different password to the normal A2K login?

My own, personal password, Walter. That's what the problem was yesterday. (Is there a different one I should be using?) I just kept getting the login information to fill in, again & again ....

Anyway, I got my message through a short while ago. That's the main thing.

Thanks.
