our new baby

After about 6 months of thought and preparation, we finally found a new baby.

Her name is Saki.
She is less then 6 months, though I am unsure of exactly how old as she was found in a parking lot a few weeks ago.

She is cross eyed and has a problem with her vision.
She bumps into things and doesn't seem to focus well on things up close.

Her first vet visit with us is next week, though she has been tested for all kitty diseases + worms and came back negative.
I think, being cross eyed is a trait of a Siamese cat.. ? Isn't it?

Congratulations. That cat will probably be as good a pet as anyone could have. I like it.

She is a real lap kitty so far.
Simple, quiet, with just a little kitty spunk in there..

She meows like a baby when she cant find something.
I am often times having to walk her to her food bowl.
I am thinking we will need to place it away from the dinner table, because she hits her head on the legs alot.

She is slow in running and walking, but knows my voice and Ians voice and listens for it when we arrive walking up to us and meowing her 'welcome'

She seems really sweet so far.
I adore her. Smile

Aw, she's a cutie. And she matches your floor. Will she be an indoor cat?

She looks like a lovely silver tabby. How sweet.

If her vision's compromised, you'll have to make some modifications for her.

Sweet little thing.

I always keep my cats as indoor cats.

My other cat, Kitten, is 10 and has always been an indoor cat.
They are just safer that way.

She seems to just not really be able to see well at all.
I dont know why, but I will find out from the vet next week.

here is a picture of her looking right at me.

It isnt a direct face shot, but you can see how her right eye points in to her nose, and her left eye sits a little higher

Well, you cant see her left eye perfectly.. but you get the idea.

She has a really long face, and a very thin nose.
cute, cute cute.

Shewolf, I asked (good for you by the way) because if she doesn't go out, it doesn't matter much if her eyesight is off. I knew a cat briefly in Italy (belonged to my family there) who had taken a fall as a kitten. He would walk into things and fall over all the time, but he was a happy, silly, playful little bugger too.

Wow, Saki is just beautiful! So nice that you took in a little sweetie that needed a home, yay! Very Happy

I had a part Siamese when I was a kid who had eyes that crossed sometimes, and she often wouldn't see the food in her dish until you put it right up to her face...she'd also sit and stare at walls a lot. She was the funniest kitty! Siamese cats are definitely....different! But they have such fun personalities.

She is absolutely beautiful, shewolf! I love her markings & it sounds like she has a most accommodating nature. Lucky you!
Cats are very smart (as I'm sure you'd already know!) & she will be a devoted friend to you (especially), Ian & your daughter for (her) life. She'll remember that you cared enough to give her a good home, just when life was looking pretty unfriendly. ( I know - just about every cat I've owned during my adult life has been an unloved stray. Love works magic on them! Very Happy )

Congratulations on your new family member!
I'm crossing my fingers that the vet's report is good.

She's gorgeous!

She looks to be half Siamese...half blue tabby point, as far as I can tell, to be precise. The colouring is recessive, though, so she must be the result of a mating with a very pale cat and a Siamese!

Cross eyes ARE a Siamese characteristic, which they try and breed out. I have had a couple with slightly cross eyes, AND a kinked tail, which is another Siamese 'thing".

The Siamese temperament tends to be very dominant, so I suspect you will have a Siamese, in effect. The paler colours tend to be more docile than the darker ones (like Seal points) so she should be a delight. I have a tiny blue tabby point right now!

Edit: Actually...her points look darker than blue...I wonder if she is a chocolate point crossed?

Last night, she tried to climb up on Ian to sleep on him and kept walking into the wall above his head.
I woke him up giggling so hard.
Then she found the pit of his arm and started kneading and purring.
When he would roll over, she rolls to her back and stays perfectly still until he stops moving, then tries to find his arm pit again.

she.. is sooooo precious.
