And many of you want to ban me from A2K because of my viewpoints. Imagine how long I'd last on that site.... Sick bastards.

You have to have a password to visit the site but from what I know of ALF they're essentially a terrorist organization and have nothing to do with the "true left".

It appears that they took the thread down. The link worked before.

What is was about was a dying boy whose last wish was to go on a bear hunt. It was arranged through Safari International. The young man died on the way home after successfully harvesting a Canadian black bear.

The good folks at ALF wished the kid a quick trip to hell.

That story was from a few years ago, wasn't it?

I'm not a big fan of trophy hunting and I think it's sad that some kids dying wish was to kill something but I thank my lucky stars that I'm not in a position where I have to try to grant my child's dying wish because I would try my hardest to do it no matter how crazy his idea was to me.

There are literally hundreds of stories like this. The "Make A Wish" foundation no longer will do hunts, same with the United Way. So, I don't support them.

SCI does though.

I also take exception to the term "trophy hunt". Game is managed throughout north America. Sure, you can get lucky or work hard enough to pick out a trophy, but your tag is part of a much larger herd management effort.

If I was dying and one of those foundations was going to grant me my last wish I wouldn't waste it on a f*cking bear hunt.... although it might be fun AND good for the environment to hunt cj....

So, bear, you denigrate a child's last wish because you don't agree with it? You should go to work for "Make-a-Wish". It's how they roll.

I actually have done a great deal of charity work for make a wish over the years and I don't begrudge this child his/her dying wish.... I just personally wouldn't wish for it....just as I don't begrudge you cumming your pants over hunting and guns all the time.... stupid.... but whatever...

Believe it or not, Cj, I have to agree with you on this one. I consider myself pretty liberal, but hunting is a part of my upbringing and I hunted Whitetail here in Wisconsin for many years as a child and young adult. I just lost interest in it after awhile. I still may take up bowhunting and see if my twin sons would be interested in it when they get old enough. I would encourage and support and participate if it turns out to be something they enjoy.

I remember it being the most looked-forward to time of my life at the time. I can fully understand a child who's culture includes hunting wanting to do something as exciting as a bear hunt. And to be granted his wish is wonderful.

Militant animal rights groups pi$$ me off the same as Pro-lifers, Pro-Choicers and the NRA among others. They drive themselves to such extreme tactics and actions that they become a cariacture of their true cause and render themselves impotent.

You take exception to the term "trophy hunt" but think it's fine to lable these extremists as the "true left".

Crazy.

I guess that is the point I was trying to kind of make. Extremism (if that is a word) is counter-productive. Unfortunately these are the arse-holes that are seen and make news. So, the impression that some people get of the left as a whole is skewed by the radicals. Therefore labled as "True Left". The same goes for the far-right and the "Christians"

So, not all hunting is "trophy" hunting. Yet there are people who do go out and hunt out of season and some who only kill the biggest-baddest animal just to say they did. But that is not the majority. There are many people who respect the animal and thank it and the earth or god or whatever for the food it provides.

I'm actually hunting does this year with my bow and passed up a shot at a spike buck. If a monster walked in though... I'd like the wall mount to go with the backstraps.... Michigan is overrun with deer.
