Although Australia has never been a place I ever wanted to live I have friends over there so it helps. All-be it in Syndey and Melbourn.

Aparently Perth and Adelaid are in the top 100 cities to live in and I have heard great things about them.

Has anyone lived in Perth or Adelaid before, what did you think of it? I work as a community educator so would be a little worried getitng a job as a youth worker or community educator. I don't like places that are too humid, although ivce heard perth gets very hot and with climate change it can only get worse.

I live in Adelaide.

What are you looking for in a city?

Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide all have major attractions.

Well I wnated something not too big. I have lived in London for over 4yrs and that put me right off. Im from Edinburgh which is such a gorgeous city and has a population of just over 800,000. So something easy to get around but with plenty to keep me entertained. Somewhere chilled-out. Friendly people. Im not keen on looking at sky scrapers every day and want a city that is beautiful to look at with nice arcitecture.

Hmmm....Adelaide is small, only about a million.

It's size means that there aren't lots of night clubs etc, though there is a night life. What keeps you entertained?

It's known for nice architecture near the city...but it doesn't have anything like Edinburgh's glamour and beauty! The modern parts of the inner city lack a great deal, architecturally, but ther eare gems in the older parts. Lots of lovely turn of the 19th century homes.....

It is very easy to get around, with lovely beaches, and lovely hills.

Here's some tourist stuff:

Fabulous dining, cafe lifestyle, lovely wine regions, if you like that. Lots of places to walk and cycle and such. Good cinemas. Good access to the outback (Flinders ranges are glorious)

You're a youth worker?

The main employer (Families SA) is suffering a budget cut, but I would imagine there would still be jobs.

Melbourne is bigger, and is a lovely city. Msolga lives there, and may be along. It is a real arts capital. It is colder than Adelaide, which has a Mediterranean climate, but can get really hot. Adelaide is cheaper to live in, Melbourne more vibrant. Both are very multicultural...Adelaide more so in the near city areas (where I live.)

Perth I know little about. It is very isolated from the rest of Oz. Can get very hot and dry. Quite vibrant economy, based on minerals booms. Probably lots of youth work jobs, but you'd need to check on Perth sites.

Thanks for that. Yes I am a youth worker but I can get any job do with community work, dosnt matter what area weather it be with homeless people or young people. Maybe ill miss out Perth as it seems way too hot for me.

As for entertainement. Id rather sit in a cafe at night and have a quiet cup of tea or even a beer in a chilled bar. As I will be in my 30s when I move clubbing will be far a few between but wouldn't mind going out now and again. I have my studio for entertainment and would be more than happy going for walks, having a nice cup of tea somewhere rather than clubbing every wek.

Dlowan - how do you find the people of Adelaid compared to Melbourne? are both as friendly as each other. Considering Melbourne is much bigger I suspect there may be a lot of arrognet people around and those who keep themselves to themselves?
