Does anyone remember "writing lines"?
Did you ever have to write lines?
What lines did you have to write?
Does any school still do this?
No, I was a goody goody.
But people did have to write lines (thinking, New York, 1950).
I also remember our chem teacher having someone write or print quotes of the day... (not as punishment).
that was good.
So when exactly did you begin to question authority, osso?
I was thinking about this yesterday when I caught the opening bit of the Simpsons. Bart is always writing something different on the chalkboard during the opening.
"I will not eat napkins and wipe my face with potato pancakes"
yyp.
Good question, Boomer... but not sure I'd tie it to board writing as I don't remember others having to do that either, or at least not often - it wasn't a much of a practice at my schools.
I probably started questioning once I learned how to read.
If I remember correctly, such became unlawful for teachers when I was in school (50's/60's). But that didn't prevent some to order such ...
