I am a newbie here, looking for a history and riddle buff who can help me decipher a puzzle I've been given.
----
The 16th, and married to Mary Todd, that year a famous writer told a great story about pip, what type of novel is this referred to as.
----
I get (I think) that the first two clues are Lincoln (16th President and husband of Mary Todd). I think that the story about Pip is Great Expectations. Both date to 1860 / 1861 (although I find nothing significant in Lincoln's life that year) and for "type of novel" I was thinking either "serial" - for how it was originally published or "Classic" for how it is defined.
However, I can't seem to find a unifying theme or idea to tie them all together? Any ideas?
Feel free to email me at ScottiesJunkMailSPLATComcast.net with any ideas or questions.

Ummm.. It seems to me that you already made the connection even if you don't know the significance.
Lincoln was elected as the 16th President of the U.S. in November 1860. I'd guess that would be fairly significant in most people's lives.
Hence Lincoln, who was married to Mary Todd, was elected as the 16th President in 1860. That same year Great Expectations was released featuring a character named Pip...
Â…The story can be considered semi-autobiographical of Dickens himself.
It was first serialised in a weekly magazine called; All the Year Round, from 1 December 1860 to August 1861.
