Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, shouting...."holy ****...what a ride!"

He He He...forget the champagne babe...go crystal meth, shout out tom others...I am human and I need to be loved.......if u are immortal like me you do not arrive at a grave

Yes. you must. The Hogfather would be a good place to start. As a nanny you would love the department store scene when all of the grubby little urchins are postively entralled by the realism of...

Mustn't spoil.

But I will add that Death's Daughter could be a role model.

I'd start with a book, which marks the beginnig of a series. For example "Mort" for the series around Death/the Grim Reaper or "Guards! Guards" for the series around Samuel Vimes (is that correct? In Germany he's called Samuel Mumm) and his city watch. There are further loose (right term?) series, for example the witches or Rincewind and the magicians of the Unseen University. You must not start with the very first novel "The color of Magic" ...

Here's what I am reading - Dalai Lama's "The Way to Freedom: Core Teachings of Tibetan Buddhism"

"...to wage a struggle between the negative and positive forces in your mind."

I really hope that this will help me to succeed towards freeing myself from my current state of mental chaos.

<sigh>

Thomas Kuhn's The Structure of Scientific Revolutions

It is partly a history of science, but mostly an analysis of what happens within the community of professional scientists when an established theory is replaced by a new explanation or discovery.

"Mental chaos", superjuly? Aw, sorry to hear that. Sad But it won't last long ... ya gonna be too busy! Very Happy

Me, I've just started a novel by an English writer I like a lot - Maggie Gee. (The Burning Book, Light Years, Lost Children ..). This is her newest effort, called The Flood. Early days yet, but it's looking promising! I'm very impressed with my local library, which purchased the book soon after I requested it. Very Happy
Has anyone else here read any of her novels? Perhaps some of the UK A2Kers?

Have you read The Last Juror by Grisham? I have heard it's good. That's next on my list.

Msolga - You are such a sweetheart for acknowledging my whining and giving me positive and kind thoughts.

You are one of my favorite a2kers!

I found King of Torts quite superficial - not enough development.

Just started David Balducci's "Hour Game."

Well... I had only heard of two books from John Grisham - one being The Last Juror (which I'm going to read next) and The Firm (which was produced into a movie staring Tom Cruise).

I had never heard of King of Torts up until now. Thanks.
