Potter died of cancer about five years ago and he was writing up until the time he died. Brit TV commonly uses a 6 hour serial format and this was particularly where Potter's work stood apart. His most famous serials were The Singing Detective, Lipstick on Your Collar, and Pennies From Heaven. He also did some movie scripts and novels. I consider Singing Detective television's greatest work. Others may argue, but they'd be wrong.

Isn't that funny, because I'm reading Potter on Potter too. Excellent. Dennis Potter was a brilliant artist.

The coincidence is more than chance....I was ranting on abuzz a couple of months ago about the fellow, and forcefully suggested this book. I'm most pleased to discover that someone had the prudence to follow my instructions. To Ms Lola...one doffed hat.

This is true.........I very prudently decided to read the recommended book. And I can also recommend, The Singing Detective, a six part BBC series which is Potter's masterpiece. It's a magnificient work involving three, time layers in a man's life (his childhood, his adult years and the present), which are intertwined is such a way that the story works on several layers of consciousness at once. It can be viewed again and again because each time you see it, new intrepretations become obvious, meanings you had missed before. And it's also funny, very funny.

I'm almost finished reading 'Best American Short Stories of 2001'

I've been reading them on a local radio station that broadcasts on a special frequency for the blind.

Next I'm going to do a novel in installments. (I haven't selected it
yet)

jjorge - I tried to read text books for blind students in college. My voice was putting the poor guy to sleep, so he asked for a new reader. Sigh.
