Started Cormac McCarthy's All the Pretty Horses.

So far so good. His writing takes a little getting used to. I think he's a master of language and he has no interest in clear as a bell sentences.

That one's supposed to be a departure from Blood Meridian. After he kicked the bottle. Blood Meridian's my only reference point for McCarthy, but every sentence seemed precise. He's as impressionistic as any great modern author--Conrad comes to mind--but definitely a full fledged contortionist when it comes to sentence structure.

The Terrorist by Udike
Merry Andrew and Dlowan,

I'm reading The Terrorist, too. Currently on pg 224. The book is a good read, but I keep wondering if it's really telling me how an American born Arab boy becomes a terrorist.

I suppose the answer is that this is how it might have happened to this boy.

I am also reading Dostoevsky's Notes from Underground. I suppose I should say that I'm now reading it for the 4th time in the last two months. It's one thing to read it, but another thing to get the drift of it.

Books I'm reading now

At this time, I'm reading 3 books:

a) The David Suzuki Reader, A Liftime of Ideas from a Leading Activist and Thinker~David Suzuki;
*instead of requiring bombastic bibles and assorted junk "books," in an increasing number of secondary and post HS curricula, this book should be the one Exclamation

b) Armed Madhouse~Greg Palast; [rereading it in light of BushCo. amoral insanities]

c) The Art of War~Sun Tzu [this is my 4th rereading in 35 yrs.]
