This is a good feature. If this doesn't involve too much coding, here are my suggestions for improving
it.
1) Don't list my own posts are having been made since my last visit. That seems silly and makes the page
unnecessarily long. I don't need to see what I've posted, and it's a misnomer to call it a post since my last visit, as
I'm the one who did the posting.
2) Either don't list the read topics or give an option for hiding them or just seeing
the unread topics. For example, I got 40 posts since my last visit (that really happened the other day). I noticed they were
mostly in Quotes, so I went there and hit 'Mark all topics read'. I then refreshed the screen showing the posts since my
last visit. The unreads went to reads, as expected (good!), but I still saw the read posts. To my mind, this will make the
pages really unwieldy (and members won't read the stuff sitting at the bottom, as they won't want to sift through it).
If those two 'fixes' are put into place, then my list of 40 would go down to a far more manageable (and, to my
mind, useful) list of 10 unread posts not made by me.
I've been wrestling
with that for a while, the post since last visit code is based on the last time you log out and I can't agree more that it
should not include your own posts.
I'm going to look into this, I'll have to run off and get some help from some php
wizards as this will likely be a huge amount of coding.
In fact, this will probably have to be coded from scratch, I
don't think the current code can easily be altered to do that.
Bottom line is, I want what you want but have to
convince some wizards to help.
