Many of us are reminiscing how we got here. I was searching Google for the answer to a radio trivia question. An A2K post was the only place that had a specific answer. I was so impressed I decided to take the free A2K membership.
After a year, I finally realized that posters like Gus and Slappy should not be taken seriously.
I just noticed that smorgs joined only 3 days before I did.
i joined because i was buying a new computer. littlek was my housemate (and still is) and she said that's the place to ask questions. i still remember how my heart was racing when i hit 'submit' and my first post appeared on the baby blue screen. Then fishin replied. hook, line, sinker...i'm still here.
I wood just like to say Happy Birthday A2K !
I came here looking for the definition to some British slang term, ended up laughing so hard at the other posters on the thread that I got hooked...
Joanne Dorel invited me to a2k. I'm sure I would eventually have gotten here on my own. It's the only forum I feel comfortable in. I feel that some great chronicler on the site should work up a compilation, an ebook, perhaps a yearbook, each time an anniversary comes around.
What a great trip down Memory Lane, Jespah. Thank you for posting your selections.
At almost 75,000, that's about 15,000 new members per year... 1250 per month! Aren't we glad they aren't all posting about having affairs?

I also was looking for something on google when I read a funny
line that was written on a2k. I followed the link and started reading.
It took a while until I registered and started writing. At that time
I had an avatar of an old lady in rollers, and guess who hit on me?

I, like many, was a refugee from Abuzz; a rough and tumble place that eventually collapsed. I am listed as having joined on 1 December, 2002.
Some of yall have thousands upon thousands of posts. Others have posted very rarely. I am at something like 3600, which is not very many particularly when you consider posts on some of the stupid games here that I participate in.
One dreary Sunday I decided to print out the posts from a creative writing thing I was involved in. 72 pages of Gothboy with posts from folks like Cav etc.
A2K is, in my mind, not quite as genteel as it once was. But perhaps that is a function of the topics I watch.
Anyway, I think it is noteworthy that folks here, some of the folks here, spend time and money arranging to meet other A2Kers in person.

Happy Anniversary A2k, you have made it happen, I salute you.
This kind of makes me wonder how long abuzz lasted before going down in flames.

I noticed that too, smorgs. You, me, and spendius joined at the same time. Nobody ever confused you with spendius but sometimes people confused me with spendius.
