Call for a new Copernican revolution

What are your views on this idea by colin leslie dean

PROLEGOMENON TO A NEW COPERNICAN REVOLUTION
A NEW SCIENCE MAN LOOSES HIS PRIVILEGED PLACE AT THE CENTRE OF THE UNIVERSE AS A PRIVILEGED KNOWER MAN IS DECENTRED

There have been two major decentreing in the history of human thought. Copernicus and Freud. Copernicus took the earth from its place at the center of the universe- in other words he decentred the earth. Freud similarly took mans consciousness from the center of his experience - he decentred man. In other words Freud destroyed the belief that man can have an understanding of himself solely via his consciousness. Freud's views of the unconscious decentred man from his place as an autonomous free thinking subject at the center of his world. A third decentreing has now occurred The situation is now that man has been decentred this time from his place as the privileged knower of the universe. MAN HAS LOST HIS PLACE AS THE CENTRAL REFERENCE POINT FOR THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE UNIVERSE. This because the very medium through which man uses to understand the universe i.e. language in fact falsifies the universe. Thus man looses his ability to be a privileged knower of the universe. With the inability of language to capture the totality of the known about the universe man ends up without any intellectual reference points and is thus decentred from his privilege place as the interpreter the universe- he is decentred from the universe. Man cannot know the universe as the language he uses to understand the universe at his previous centre only falsifies it .Mans language is not able to capture the totality of the known about the universe. For thousands of years man has thought that his language can unlock the secrets of the universe. But this is just blind arrogance in his belief of his own creation i.e. language as being a privileged medium through which to know the universe. Man can not know the universe as his language used to know it only falsifies the universe. This results in the death of man i.e. the death of asserting a privileged observer of the universe. All we have is an endless free play of words trying to capture the universe but all these words are man's own creation which in fact falsifies the universe. WITH THE DECENTRING OF MAN FROM THE UNIVERSE WE HAVE NO GUARANTEED FACTS OR INTERPRETATIONS WHICH ARE AUTHORITIVE SINCE THE WORDS WE USE FOR THESE FACTS OR INTERPRETATIONS ONLY FALSIFY THE REFERENTS. The universe is now seen as being that which is produced by man via his culturally arbitrary conventional systems of signs i.e. language. What arrogance to think that this constructed human system is a privileged medium to know the universe? As if the totality of all knowledge about the universe is capture in our puny human words. A new science is called for where by we leave behind our language and concepts and embark upon a new way of seeing the universe. Operationalism was one such way of knowing without the use of language as such. Mysticism was another . It is time for a new science

!. Decentring is not confined to Coperinicus and Freud. A non-anthropocentric approach can be attributed to Darwin and later to biologists such as Maturana in which "cogniton" is an autpoietic process.

2. Language does not "falsify the world". it selectively segments or creates "the world". Deans view appears to be a dualistic form of naive realism.

selectively segments delimits the totality of reality thus falsifying it

as zagic notes particle or wave falsify what an electron is -it is beyond these selecting delimiting terms

darwin and maturana are still using logic and language and assume -with out proof- that their logic and language is a privilaged tool of knowledge-in this way they are so pre Copernican-they still regard themselves as privilaged knowers at the centre of the universe

Darwin attacked the religious affinity for anthropocentricity.
Maturana attacked the claim that "cognition" was a unique characteristic of humans and advocated "language" as merely a co-ordinator of cognitive action. To do so he even attempted to objectify his own "language use".

both these guys regard their logic and language as a privilaged tool of knowledge-that is why they are creating systems using them-
dean is so far beyond these guys it is not funny
dean shows these guys end in meaninglessness due to their use of logic and language

both would be so upset to be told they talk nonsence meaninglessness and their systems meaningless

"Nonsense" and "meaninglessness" are what hapens when language "goes on holiday"...a point made by Wittgenstein to whom Dean appears to be eternally beholden. Dean appears to be involved in a Wittgensteinian "language game" which can only be won by disappearing up one's own backside!

The contemplation and practice of the theory of meaninglessness done right is a coarse in the loss of self-preservation.

At the final stage of this course is the rationalization or realization that we exist by a state of instinct and biology.

And regardless of our attempts to think ourselves otherwise we are base a rudimentary animals.

What we know about Colin Leslie Dean is that he is a self-promoting wanna-be poet from Australia who posts queries here (using fictitious profiles) about his own non-celebrity.

Anyway, if you somehow manage to get beyond the obscene imagery and offensive language, you will find the writing basic, boring and bad.

Thanks fresco. You might have saved me some embarrassment. I don't blame Dean too much. We all need meaning even if it is meaningless.

Wait a minute.........oh nevermind.

I have a garden to cultivate.

Dean,

This is a well established forum of relatively honest contributors. Frauds like you provide an interesting diversion but generally go and play elsewhere when challenged to actually debate the contributions of others. Since you have in essence rejected the machinery of debate (language and logic) which is a well known reactionary tactic associated with inarticulate adolescents, and since you have denigrated acknowledged "greats" like Godel and Wittgenstein (who were acutely aware of the limitations of that machinery) you have now have an insurmountable credibility problem if you persist in your childish identity games.

BTW. Appeals to "multiple self" philosophy such as that of Gurdjieff, or "evoked self" through language, such as those of Dennett or Maturana,
are a quantum leap above the level on which you are currently operating.
