I remember the ice man lugging a block of ice into the kitchen on his padded shoulder like it was yesterday.
Remember people saying "I havn't laughed so much since my granny got her tit caught in the ringer?

All these remembrances are part of my senile mind. I got 17 on the quiz. I would have scored higher but I don't remember so well any more.

What a wonderful thread this has been. Thanks au1929.

A good lesson, CI is no matter how bad you seem to have it, someone somewhere has it worse.

Lunch counters:

Everyone has commented on the WoolWorth's lunch counter, but have you forgotten that virtually all Walgreens had a lunch counter too?

There was no Walgreen's where I grew up, Miller, but we did have Rexall. And you're right, they did have an ice cream counter. No lunch but who needs lunch when there's ice cream?

We didn't get Walgeens's until I was in my 30's and no lunch counter there.

I was a king when I went to a "dime store" (five and ten cent store) with a quarter.

Or when my brothers and I went to the Saturday matinee to see the serials (and two movies and a cartoon).

Yes, it was and was in competition with Walgreens.
Guess who won?

And buttered popcorn was actually buttered. Well worth the extra five cents for the butter.
