still trying to upgrade to vista premium - in the computer shop .
i'm no longer able to use "message body" instructions or "font colour - font size" , emoticons won't pop up either ???

computer is 18 months old - 1 GB - 250 harddrive , upgraded video card ... ... and was working fine under windows XP .
the test done in the shop - a very reputable one where i bought the computer - showed that there should be NO upgrade problems .

also can no longer access GOOGLE IMAGES - though IMAGES in google text appear and can also be transferred .

a lot of headscratching going on in the shop here !

anyone have problems with getting VISTA to do its tricks ?

thanks !

I did it at home. Tomy own big surprise, I got no difficulties at all.
(I waited until the last driver for my sanner was out two months ago.)

brought the computer home from the shop yesterday .
apparently the two year old lexmark printer might not be compatibible with VISTA !?
so i uninstalled the printer and it worked fine in the shop ... re-connected at home (to a different internet provider - my old one) and could not connect to outlook express .
so i also uninstalled MCAFEE ( Shocked ) and it's working fine now !
bought VISTA FOR DUMMIES after the update had been done . woody leonhard - the writer/expert - suggests it's best to have a NEW computer when going to VISTA , another Shocked .
i'll try to re-install MCAFEE and see what happens !
wish me luck !

yes , good luck and perserverance seems to be required to upgrade to VISTA !
i now have MCAFEE re-installed but took off the printer since it seems to present integration problems - even though i obtained an updated driver .
the lexmark printer is two years old and seems not fully capable of working in the VISTA environment .
i'll make sure to buy a vista compatible printer - around $ 70 - rather than fussing around with the old one .
i do like the much crisper look of screen displays - both print and pictures .
a/t WINDOWS FOR DUMMIES ( Shocked Laughing ) starting vista on a brand-new computer is a better option than upgrading - should have bought the book before having the upgrade installed .

I had had a similar problem with my scanner - but since it works with the VISTA driver no real problem.

things are working well now , but i've left the printer on the floor for now .
the lexmark printer is a rather large one and there are no off-brand cartridges available here - a set is $70 Shocked
i think i'll look for a small , simple printer that will accept STAPLES brand cartridges - even though a warning comes up when they are being installed .
