When one of the wild animals wants to get close to me, I discourage them. They are wild and I don't believe in trying to get them used to humans.
There was one raccoon though that wouldn't give up. It kept wanting to get close to me. Finally I broke down and let him touch me. I petted him just to feel what their fur feels like. That was only once though. After that I let it know I didn't want it coming up to me.

Not if you leave them alone, then they are not dangerous. I wouldn't corner one though. They would put up a fight and can carry rabies.

Why would they bite me? I have lived here for 23 years and my yard has always had raccoons. I don't see it as a problem. Neither does the cat
