Anybody else sneeze after eating?

My mother told me I've done it since I was a little kid. Usually sneeze eight or nine times, sometimes more. Does anyone know what causes this?

@mags314772,
No - but I have heard that multiple sneezing (sneezing more than once in a row) is hereditary. Anyone else in your family sneeze serveral times?

I almost always sneeze twice (sometimes 3 times) - I also sneeze after having an altoid and after having cough medicine. Don't know why, but I do.

@mags314772,
I found this article (it is pretty short) where a doctor answered the question.

@mags314772,
I never started sneezing after eating until I had stomach surgery. Doc couldn't tell me why it happens.

@BumbleBeeBoogie,
I also do the multi sneeze after eating thing.

Thanks for the article, TTH. Kinda makes sense that quickly eating a lot could be a trigger, and not just allergies or irritants.

That is so interesting, Merry Andrew gets a runny nose after eating and we wondered why.

@Sglass,
I'm an old sneezer with no association re food. Back in the days when we had cats and mold, I could let go forty or more full blown sneezes, followed by much water effluent from my nose.

That turned into itching, another whole whoop de doo, some years later. Be careful what you ask for.

But I've a friend who used to do a multiple sneeze thing, as in Chzz, chzz, chzz, chzz, chzz (another fifty times). I'll bet that was hereditary. It seemed to an outsider to be a controlling effort.

@ossobuco,
I can be a multiple sneezer, not related to food.

@TTH,
thank you for the article. My dad always told me and my brother that we ate like wolves, so maybe it is caused by eating too fast.

@mags314772,
It is gustatory rhinitis. Triggered by over eating. I thought mine would stop when I had gastric bypass surgery to lose weight. Unfortunately, it didn't stop. Now I just start sneezing after eating a morsel of food. I don't think there is a cure for it. My eyes tear, my nose runs, I sneeze 6-8 times.

I had bariatric surgery 7 years ago and "sometimes" I sneeze after I eat. I think it is when I eat a bit too much and it makes a pressure in there on something and that triggers the sneezing.

It's Gustatory Rhinitus - a neurological condition.
When you are full a reflex causes you to sneeze.
My dad and I both sneeze after a meal. Sometimes hot foods
Or spicy foods contribute. It seems to be hereditary.

I don't usuallysneeze after a meal but, invariably, my nose starts to run. I need to keep tissues handy if I'm going out to eat. Is that another symptom of gustatory rhinitis or does that have a different name?

I also sneeze after eating. Usually when I am full but not all the time. Some times I sneeze after simply eating anything period. It started when I was 4 months pregnant with my son who is now 20. I am so glad to find more people in this world whom also sneeze after eating!
