Can't access templates

I want to set up a template covering the following items: Category, Author, Title.
I'm using Word 2003 and Works Task Launcher 8.5.

I want to save the template, so I click on "Template" when saving the document, but it doesn't appear in my desk top Template folder, nor does it appear in the Task Launcher, although some have done so.

I would like to delete a lot of old templates, but can't do that, either. I know I can achieve the same end in other ways, but since there is a Template link, I'd like it to work.

In fact, the Task Launcher Templates feature appears frozen. How can I thaw it?
