Hi Lou57
Don't have the answers yet, but shouldn't the clue be Old Benin ruler??
I'm still working on the cryptic.

colossus 111--baffler
Hi again Lou57
Just had a bit of a search on google and oba could be the answer for benin ruler. The small print is a bit of a worry sometimes. Someone else may confirm or disagree so wait and see.

Colossus 111 Stinker
I'm having trouble with a definition of RUNES.
Colossus 111 Stinker 114across gives the clue as Ancient Alphabet letters.
BIG Demon 70down gives the clue as Small divinatory stones.
In each case I have RU?ES.
Am I guessing right or am I on the wrong track altogether?
Lynne

Colossus baffler
Thanks for your help Dutchy. I have been through a heap of references on the Net and was going cross-eyed. I'd be interested to know what references you use - they seem to be better than mine. The ones I found all refer to alphabet letters and inscriptions.

Baffler Collossus 111
Thank you Dutchy & maxfox for the answer to the Swedish cooker. Sometimes I am surprised when questions are asked for the easier clues. I use the site 'oneacross' first before I do any other checking, it is always a big help.
