A good online IQ test

Reply Mon 28 Jul, 2003 02:09 am
I just took a crappy IQ test (emode) and if you get every question right the highest it will score you is 144. The questions are easy and they probably want to make you score high to make you buy more of their stuff (and because you will look more attractive to prospective mates in their dating section).

Does anyone know of a better free online test?

I just wasted 15 or some odd bucks on emode's test (yeah, I know they are free, but I wanted to see why it was 144 So I had to pay to see the answers and yup, they are all right but the ceiling is 144, I think they make it easy on purpose) and I don't feel like paying for a test now.

So, any good ones out there? Really good ones?

If you are not sure what a good one is just point me to the one with the most questions that you are aware of.

I hate wasting time on such a crappy test. The questions were easy and I think 90% of their testees get 144 (they claim it's 10% but they also claim it's scientifically accurate so phoooey).

Anywho, rant over. I'm actually curious for a real result, not a fake one that has limits and gives away high results easily.

Craven - it doesn't say you are 144 - it gives you a range. This is, indeed, oddish. However, "legit" tests give you a percentage probability that the test is correct.

Thing is, online tests are a crock, because timing is crucial in "legit" tests - just as one example

Nonetheless, I shall ask at work - I am sure the answer will be that no online test is reliable, though.

No, it gives you a score and then in your profile it gives the 120-144 range.

I took the test twice, the first time I did both pages in 5 minutes.

The second time I did half and then went to eat and finished it and got the same score.

So no, it's not using time at all.

I remember one online test using time but it was one of the ridiculously high scoring types that try to flatter you into buying a certificate or something.

If you want a serious test, you can't find them online. I would check out your local Mensa branch and take a proper IQ test.

American Mensa has a mail-in test that costs something like $10-15. Since it isn't supervised or timed, it isn't valid for anything but your own ego. It will not even qualify you for Mensa. I can get you one if you are interested.

Yes, Equus is correct. To get a proper test, you must go to a Mensa branch and take the supervised, time-tested one.

Hmm, I don't care enough about IQ to pay another 15 bucks and since I'm impatient (it's tedious enough to do the tests, even worse to go to the post office) I'd hate to mail it in.

I'm sure there has got to be a better online test than at emode. I'll find one the next time I'm interested and post it here.

He he, of course if someone gets double digits on that test (hmm, I wonder how low it goes) they are probably at least smart enough not to put the results in their profile.

BTW, remember how I told you I was gonna test them all for affiliate purposes? Well, so far I have tested a bunch of them and the results are all the same. The sites themselves want me (to affiliate with and make them money) but nobody is interested in the ads (maybe I shouldn't say that I'm "just testing the site" in my ads, hmmm).

Anywho, in a few weeks I'll partner A2K with a couple of the top dating sites.

I was on emode.com last week, taking all these tests. According to them, I have a 129 IQ, and have a 138 "relationship IQ." Sure these tests are very scientifically accurate...right.

The biggest clue that they are inaccurate is that everyone's "sex type" is positive. It never processes your answers and says: "Dude, in your case it'd not libido anymore. It's already pathological. Put that bagel down."

I think the whole site is therapy.
