stinker in holiday 61 - help?

GREAT!!!
Dutchy you are, indeed, a scholar and a gentleman!! THANK YOU SO MUCH! Would you believe I just started to ask you to explain what whistle ball is (eg a game or something) as it's been driving me a little crazy and I had this incredible EPIPHANY!!! OF COURSE, the ball INSIDE the whistle! Oh, I'm feeling very blonde at the moment...(I can say that because I am blonde). Can't believe I've been so stuck on trying to find out what type of ball a "whistle ball" is!!! It's at times like this that I wonder what on earth I am doing trying to do crosswords. What a dunderhead I am!! Lucky I can laugh!!

thanks, it's helps to know perhaps I'm not alone in making these types of blunders. I suppose the upside is that it all ends in experience and I shall get better as I get along.
