"Big Boy came
Carrying a mermaid
On his shoulders
And the mermaid
Had her tail
Curved
Beneath his arm.
Being a fisher boy,
He'd found a fish
To carry-
Half fish.
Half girl
To marry".

I really think that I am deficient in the learning of poetry. As I just mentioned in another thread, it seems that there are many poetry lovers here. I am just going to watch, and maybe I will learn something!
Poetry
I'm pretty deficient, myself. But I've found out that reading poetry can become habit forming. Just give it a try.
...and writing..
and trying ....
and just saying what you know you can say....
may be poety??
(where did the word "poetry " come from?)
Hi...
respect and all....
Sandy.
(just getting the drift of.... grey sites.....)
Do songs count?
Poetry has become kind of typecast in America, coffeehouse readings
being practically the only place it's showcased as an art form. But songs, now, those are extremely popular among my age group, at least. Even
the silly repetitive rap songs have some poetic merit, imagery and such.
What is the milkshake, anyway?
