It seems that there is always a solution to "Free Cell".
Anybody able to prove this or suggest how to go about it ?
I can prove it about 70% of the time. In other words - no.
"Yes, all Microsoft Freecell games are solvable with the exception of the well-known #11982"
Who woulda thunk that there is a whole culture dedicated to discovering just the answer to this very question?

Are you reading the help section from Microsoft? Because many enthusiasts claim that of the Microsoft-dealt hands all are solveable except one.
It's also widely reagarded as somewhat of a joke (that all can be solved).

On some versions it's two games. # 1 and #2
Thanks Craven and fishin'
I'm working on it !
Oooh, I love Free Cell, but switched to Spider Solitaire which isn't as easy, NOT that I had solved every Free Cell game. I'm surprised that there'd be a website devoted to solutions... no, I'm not. It is so addictive!
fresco,
Don't bother with 11982 (if that's the right number). It is indeed unsolvable. And has been proven with many computer simulations.
