I am a 30 year old woman and I have taken 66 credits at a community college. I am an assistant chemist where I work and love my job. I would love to get my biology degree. am I too old to do this? How much work is it and is it going to be hard?

No, you could acquire an MS or PHd in about 3 years or less. Link your present degree and move on. Would you have the GRE's and the credits to get into a grad chool? Any programs that interest you?

I too started in chemistry and quickly got the total shits of it as I discovered that a lab can be quite confining (However). It led to grad degrees and now I have a business which combines my chem, geology, and geophysics. Its a career that Id do for free, its that much fun.
I finished my degrees at about 32 and was employed while I finished my MS and Phd.. Then I later took an ARt BFA.

DONT EVER LET AGE MAKE YOUR DECISION. There are lots of virology programs that are well funded and grad students are making the bulk of investigations.

In What area of chem do you work?

When I was getting my BS @ Va Tech... There was a 30-something year old guy in some of our engineering classes. I don't suppose it's ever too late.

I went to a Law School with a woman who was 56 when she started. It's never too late.

I can't comment on how hard it is going to be, but I know a fella who took the psychology route in his late twenties after studying history in B.A.

Here he is: http://www.hhdev.psu.edu/hdfs/faculty/blair.html

And he's doing quite well.

In fact, I, too, plan to take a course in neurobiology, one of my passions, in my late twenties. Learning never stops, does it ever? Of course, if you have kids, balance is going to be an issue.

I was a young guy. I got my BS in biology when I was 29.

I did all but one year going to a CC at night (2.5 years), then went to a university during the day for one year to finish up.

I had a BA before, so there were a few general ed requirements I didn't have to satisfy the second time around, but that probably only saved me one term.
