Once again I am having trouble with the colossus cryptic!

1 Down. Alma Mater connections that are uniformly recognised. (3,6,4). I have - Old School *i*s.

71 Down. Tied up Heath and Edward briefly (6). I have ***red.

70 Across. What an adder is out to achieve (3). I have s**.

75 Across. Animal tore around to start with. I have **t*r.

Could 1d be old school ties. I haven't done much in the colossus, finishing off other things. Mothers Day tomorrow and then I can get stuck into it.

For what is is worth here is what I have:

1d = oldschoolties

71d = marred

70a = sum

75a = alter
