SNAKES ALIVE !

My mother always said, "The first thunder of spring wakes up the snakes."

these snakes seem to be awake for sure !
the article states that even if there is still snow on the ground , the snakes will appear at the usual time every year !
(of course , these are canadian snakes - they are the hardy kind ).
i always like to see the first - NON-POISONOUS !!! - snakes in the spring .
i think it's rather enjoable to see them stick their little red tongues out and start hissing when one gets a little close .
really quite adorable .
