Hi Nevsta and welcome to A2k. Yes believe it or not the answer is road, they are not always that easy though. You will find some very helpful people on this site.
Good Luck

Hi Nevsta,
For trade route the answer could be Path ??
A trade route is the sequence of pathways.
Trade routes can be land or water-based.
Silk road - silk route.
I really am not that helpful but could put another angle on it.
Good luck,
vernamae
Hi again Nevsta,
Sorry, I didn't read your question correctly. Will have to agree with Tuesday.

Hi nevsta
As the ladies suggested "road" is your answer.
trade route = road
ROAD ROUTE, ROAD: an open way (generally public) for travel or transportation. [syn: route]
