Hercules: The World's Biggest Dog Ever According to Guinness World
Records. Hercules was recently awarded the honorable distinction of
World's Biggest Dog by Guinness World Records. Hercules is an English
Mastiff who has a 38-inch neck and weighs 282 pounds.

With paws the size of softballs (reports the Boston Herald), the
three-year-old
monster is far larger and heavier than his breed's standard 200lb.
limit. Hercules' owner Mr. Flynn says that Hercules weight is natural
and not induced by a bizarre diet: "I fed him normal food and he just
grew
.. and grew. and grew. and grew. "

I loved this photo and story and wanted to pass it on to another dog-lover, so I looked for it and found it onSnopes
They say it's not true.

It's still a great photo.

There's another great and amusing photo, from Snopes, of the real Hercules and owner on their link I posted. Couldn't seem to get it to post here....

So, in fact, the story is true, it's just the photo which is a fake (and only a fake to the extent that it's not a photo of Hercules, the mastiff).

Osso--

A picture of the "real" Hercules is on the Snopes' link--like mastiff, like master.

The dog in my picture is trim and handsome, compared to the real Hercules.

I agree Edgar. The dog in the picture is SPECtacular. And if he's not the biggest dog, he's damned well big enough.

I'd be willing to do the same, Edgar. Let's chip in. Eleven cents should do the trick.

A fremd of mine was sunbathing a few years back, her eyes closed and pleasant look on her face as she enjoyed the heat. Another friend's St. Bernard suddenly approached and licked her face, leaving a veil of saliva behind.

I've been waiting for the appropriate thread to relay such a story.

Hmmm, Hercules had better be one VERY WELL BEHAVED Dog, because if he isn't there will be trouble. I hope he is neutered too. I would hate to see that dog off on a tangent! Laughing

I took my very large Irish Wolfhound (tallest breed at least before this Hercules DAWG) to the vet for an ear infection. They washed the ears and put in some medicine and I went out in the waiting room to pay. The dog proceeded to shake all the medicine all over everyone in sight besides drool...and wolfhounds don't normally drool. That was one mess and some very unhappy people. Besides embarrassing. Imagine what that dog could do.
