Should Don Imus be strung up by the balls?

In response to Don Imus' insensitive, hateful, almost UNIMAGINABLY cruel and horrifyingly hurtful comments about the Rutgers female basketball team--comments that are so disgusting, depraved and degrading that they will surely have these poor young women in therapy for years to come, trying to heal the emotional scars; comments that most likely will overshadow and thus destroy everything good in their lives for as long as they shall walk this earth--I believe there should be an appropriate punishment.

In my opinion, that punishment should be death. But not a quick death. That's too good for him. A slow torturous death...I believe he should be strapped to the catherine wheel and broken for hours and hours until he begs for merciful death. At this point, we should have the whole Rutgers team stand above and piss all over him as he lies there beaten and half-dead. Then, a thousand vultures should be let loose upon him to feast upon his flesh as he slowly and painfully dies over the course of the next day or so.

Does that sound about right? I'm not really sure if that's enough though. What do you think should be done to him?

I think for the moment that he's got fitting punishment. He had to appear in an interview with Al Sharpton! Also, he has to apologize to the world over and over. Fitting punishment ...at least temporarily ... for a man with his colossal ego.

The era of shock-jock 'journalism' could be now on it's way to an end. at least his has been dealt a death-blow!

Staples Inc., Bigelow Tea Company, and Procter & Gamble Co. have stopped advertising on Imus' morning show to protest his racially charged remarks about the women's basketball team.

Chicago Tribune columnist Clarence Page, who once had Imus take a pledge not to engage in racist talk, said of the Imus' two-week suspension, "This sends a very bad signal and it's a bad use of the public airwaves. And, frankly, I don't think it's even fair to other shock jocks who've lost their jobs over doing a lot less."

Nappy is an adjective that refers to fuzzy hair. Their hair probably IS nappy. I don't get offended when someone calls my hair straight. Nothing offensive about that...

"Ho" does not just mean "hooker" anymore. It's more like "dude" or "bro"

It's funny how people keep referring to the "public airwaves". If only that were true then he wouldn't need any corporate sponsors, at all.

Whatever consequences he faces as a result of all this should be determined by the market.

He should be made to take Kicky out and get him drunk every weekend, pick up the tab, and listen to everything Kicky says, without interrupting.

That'll teach him . . .

...and what is unfortunate is that he and his show's producer are using these racial 'hot button' comments to make profit for himself and his network.

His sponsors are running for the hills. Pretty hard to have a show when you're sponsors are all deserting the ship like rats.

No it doesn't. It doesn't mean whore to ANYONE. Nobody replies by saying, "Oh my god, are you serious? She's having sex for money now?" They know that it is not meant literally. And if that is not the literal meaning, that is not the literal meaning...plain and simple.

It's simply an informal, race-independent term for a person, similar to b1tch except not as derogatory as the b-word.

Yes, Imus' comment was derogatory, and was also racist, but you would be HARD PRESSED to find a comedian these days that is not derogatory and racist. As long as the racist remarks are made in jest rather than in anger/hatred, then there usually isn't a problem with it.

Every single time I see a comedian on Comedy central they are making racist jokes about either blacks, mexicans, italians, jews, white trash, whatever. It's simply acceptable to do that these days.

I strongly disagree, Stuh. ...but such is the nature of debate.

I won't take the space here to continue the debate, however. IMHO, Imus is getting what he deserves. The point is that his actions were incredibly disrespectful to those women and to blacks, in general. Hence all the furor over the broadcast.

More or less, I agree with you, Stuh. Actually, I can see how people could take it to be racist or derogatory to women and be offended to some degree, but the amount of outrage over this by people who have no dog in this fight is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS.

When taken in context of his entire show and contents ..which also has serious elements to it, it was a bad judgement to do what he did. He admits to such. So why is it that you can't admit it too?
