Another SciAm fan? I saw that too. Interestink, no?
That's good, although I never doubted it in the first place..anyway last I heard, we still can't explain the liquid water part without comets...so this line is kind of incorrect
Waiter, there's an amoeba in my primordial soup.
Appropriate for this to be posted at easter. I wonder when the religious nutjobs will get hold of it.
I was jes getting comfortsble with Zarnes explanation re: an additional amt of hydrogen would have yielded the specific aminos that we now take for granted as being constructed via nucleotide linkages.
Also, Im a bit skeptical about the "free carbonates" The most famous carbonates are Calcium and Magnesium Carbonate (which are primarily biogenic origined, or else they are "carbonotites ," which are gaseous exudates ) However, theres not a lot of them around , they are pretty much limited to volcanic vents (of course there may have been a lot more of those in the beginning). Also Siderite is an iron carbonate that forms primarily biogenically in layers with silica goo.
Dubious in Pa. Need to see the results of the amino acid menu and then we need to look around for an equivalent ancient environment. I like the excess Hydrogen theory because , this can be confirmed by geologic evidence.
Does this mean the Talking Snake Theory is dead?
