(force move = make shift) (makeshift = temporary)

Which means we have different answers for 11a
I have KICKS (manages to give up = kicks the habit) (kicks = jerks)

60a Unhappy Pole was indeed deeply depressed

I too, came up with SADDENED - Unhappy = SAD; Pole (as in North Pole) = N, indeed = in deed, ie 'N' in deed = DE+N+ED
