Close??? Although I am confused as to the "1756" number. Shouldn't it be "1856"?

Number sequence
I'm confused too. I think that the 5th number should be 1856 but then the last 3 numbers become:

1856
8915
9761

However, if we ignore the blip and work from 1756 it becomes:

1756
7815
8561

The only rule I can find that gives 1756 is where, if there is 1 to carry from the sum of the first 2 digits, it is deducted from the digit in the next number, but where it happens in the second 2 digits it is ignored. This gives the same answer as above.

So, come on Timberbranch, have we got it right yet?

Yep I goofed, I could have said I was testing you, but that's just plain old Horse Hockey, as the Colonel used to say ...

1856 is what should have been...

Center two move out, adding up the first two and last two, and put the right digits from the new total in the center ...

You got it, TufDevil. Fishin' you were on the right track. Good job. Razz

Should we go for a 5 digit pattern?

This is a better way to describe the answer of sequence 1. Assume we take the right digit if the sum goes to two digits.

ABCD
EFGH

E=B, F=A+B, G=C+D, H=C
