Does anybody knows the reactions conditions to have
CH2Cl2 + Cl2 = CHCl3 + HCl
that reaction.

And does if the by-product HCl cause any problems in the enviroment?

Uh, I think reaction conditions: Ultra-Violet Light and Excess Chlorine...

Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) can accelerate the dissolution of minerals such as limestone etc (eg acid rain) and can contribute to the processes that cause photochemical smog...which is harmful to humans and the environment.

Hope that helps...and isn't too late. Razz
