The brain just isn't working today...

Did he ever appear in a movie?

OK, so we're looking for RN, a real, dead, male entertainer who appeared in at least one movie and who wasn't from America or the UK. I'm about to go into a meeting, so this will give me something to think about while I'm sitting through the meeting.

In the (likely) event I still have no ideas when I come back, was he:

European?
Dead before 1960?

Ladies, if you have time (sounds like bree doesn't), come take a look at this thread. I'm running out of ideas to solve this guy's puzzle:

I need a hint, so I'll ask one more:

Did he do his entertaining by performing musically, either as a singer or playing an instrument?

Bree, he did act in three movies that I'm aware of. But, that was not his forte. (scrupulosity is going to be my undoing.)

He did not sing or play a musical instrument to the best of my knowledge.

Where's my hint? (she demanded, querulously). The last question I asked was the 10th.

Sorry.

His first name is the same as that of the silent film star he played in a movie. And he didn't have a red nose.

Rudolf Nureyev

I don't know why, but I just had a complete block about that one -- couldn't come up with anyone with the initials "RN" to save my life (probably because I'm trying to do too many things at once).

Certain names are totally blocked out for me. And - I can only do ONE thing at a time. Laughing

Yes to Rudolph Nureyev. I didn't want you concentrate on "actor", but I probably threw you off the track with my answers.

"Entertainer" is probably as good a description of a dancer as any, but for some reason it set me off thinking about clowns, magicians, etc. I even looked up the last name of Roy, of Siegfried & Roy, to see if it began with an "N"!

OK, let's try:

M R
