I'm gonna pretend I didn't see the one about barney Google!!!
Wasn't that a guy? cartoons, tv?
I'm sorry gals I thought the barney google was a wind up.
Now you've done it! For the rest of the day, I'm going to be humming the song about Barney Google -- the one with the lyrics that go:
Bar-ney Google with the goo- goo- goo-gly eyes,
Bar-ney Goo-gle had a wife three times his size.
She sued Barney for di-vorce. Now he's living with his horse.
Bar-ney Google with the goo- goo- goo-gly eyes.
On an entirely different (but still musical) note, I'll guess:
Boris Godunov
Who the heck is Boris Godunov
Boris Godunov was a 16th-century Russian czar, and the title character of an opera by Moussorgsky. If you ever watched the cartoons with Rocky and Bullwinkle, you may remember a Russian spy called Boris Badenov, and his sidekick Natasha. I used to watch those cartoons all the time as a kid, and when I first heard of Boris Godunov (probably when I was in college), I thought that his name was a parody of Boris Badenov, instead of the other way around!
Doesn't that opera contain the aria
"Bo-ris God-u-nov, with the goo-goo-goo-gly eyes..."
or am I thinking of Borodin's Prince Igor? (aka Snuffy Smith)
Thank you for the explanation Bree, I feel a much wiser man now.
