Well mostly he was a talk show side kick here during the sixties and seventies here on "The Merv Griffith Show". Then he had a fast food chain here called "Arthur Treachers Fish and Chips" and of course from old movies. He was pretty well known in the US in his old age!

(I have no idea who most of these guys are - someone let me know if I can stop listing them...)
DOES HE APPEAR ON TV IN SOME CAPACITY?
Tony Hancock is a long dead Englishman
Tom Hall is a songwriter- entertainment
Tom Hanks doesn't count
Tab Hunter was an actor
You can stop listing Thomas Hobbes. He was an English philosopher who died in 1679, and so is disqualified on two counts. He's most often quoted for having said that, in a state of nature, men's lives are "solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short."
And on that cheerful note, I'll say goodnight (still with no idea who your TH is).
Tony Hillerman
Ted Hayden

He is not on TV regularly (that would make him an entertainer in my book) but he has been interviewed on TV and has shown his "expertise" on TV, as well.
not Tony Hillerman
not Ted Hayden (were you thinking of Tom Hayden? Jane Fonda's ex? it's not him either)

Hmm, the fact that "expertise" is in quotes makes me think he's an "expert" in some funky area. So I'll ask, is his "expertise" in any of the following:
Food?
Something "crafty," like home repair?
Psychology (in the broadest sense of the word, including self-improvement)?
T H
His area of expertise is not in food, any version of crafts - including home repair, or psychology/counseling/self-improvement.
Early clue: He is acknowledged to be the best in the world at what he does, though he no longer competes.
