Yes, Bree. Composer of music is correct. Is a musical composer a writer in this game? Embarrassed

Good question. I was thinking of a writer of books when I asked if he was a writer, but I can see why you wouldn't want to answer "No," because that could be considered a misleading answer, since he did write something.

I'd say for this game, composers or lyricists are not writers. (unless they have written other things and can be considered a hyphenate)

Composer of "popular music" (as opposed to classical)?

And also, I answered to the question entertainment, not an entertainer. Is a musical composer in the entertainment category here?

Raggedy, did you see mac's guess of Ferde Grofe (which I had just come back here to enter!)?

Yes Bree. Mac just beat you by a minute or two. It is Ferde Grofe. And would he be considered in the entertainment field?

Yes, I think any musician would be in entertainment.

When we asked Verdi and Puccini, I don't think anybody asked those two questions. Laughing
Thanks everybody. A musical composer is not a writer and is in entertainment. There, I've just made a note.

I remember being confused about how to answer the "entertainment" question when the person I was thinking of was Al Hirschfeld. (I think I fudged it by giving some bizarrely worded answer that only confused things further.) Maybe we need to distinguish between performers, and people who are involved in entertainment but are not themselves performers.

And do you know, I couldn't find out exactly where Grofe was born in the U.S.

Well, that's why I said not an entertainer and I also was thinking that some might not think of his music or other classical as entertainment. (lol)

According to his entry in the "Classical Composers Database," Grofe was born right here in New York City. See:
