Good Day,

I personally dont like to google here. That's why I've pretty much stopped playing the Lyrics game. I like to fish out stuff from my memory. It's alot more fun. I've only done it for spelling and times like,"Lincoln, Lincoln, what was that guys first name?"-- Very Happy Very Happy-- or looking up someone elses guess that I've never heard of.

I think googlings Okay here though if your really, really stumped and going crazy. I've learned alot here!

I am mixed. I don't want to google to find answers but I like to google about some of the responses on some other topics.

I am uncomfortable, though, that people that some of us in the US think of as reasonably famous are ok for Initials, but someone Msolga thinks is ok is not. Or Fbaezer..both are very worldlywise a2kers but because most participants so far are from us/can, there is a certain skew to the initials. I guess the criteria should be that posters of initials think that at least some of us might guess it sometime. And since the participants change...different ages, experiences...it is a little hard to decide. Still, I'd rather not just have easy initials all the time.
Or, I supppose, we could have different levels of the game.

Shall we say no googling till we run out of questions? I do agree that pulling it out of my brain is much more fun than researching...

I'd like that better--and given that we're on the honor system to properly acknowledge someone correctly identifying the "mystery guest," i think the honor system would work for no goggling. After all, i don't believe there is any score being kept--this should be for the fun, and not to "win."

I guess I don't understand the googling. If nobody gets some initials within two days, maybe there can be a give up time. After all, sometimes we post, and then don't come back for a while. Have you all been googling to figure out names for initials?

If no one can get AN, which we didn't for a day and a half or so, then we can start another one, and those interested can still guess.

What is a no googling thing? To bring up a sore subject, if I pose LT as Laurence Tibbett, which I would be unlikely to since I know little about him (I would be more likely to pose Lawrence Taylor, but say I did, it might take 23 people to guess his name - I think it was Mac who recognized the name. What would you who were not guessing him be doing on google, looking up dead males?

We all have such different backgrounds. I don't know all sorts of current tv stars. And only a few hip hop stars. Or baseball players in the last five years, mostly.

Of course we are all on the honor systsem here. I agree with Ossobuco, that if we think that at least one or two people might get it, go ahead and post the initials.

Yes, we are all from different backgrounds Some of us middle agers are familiar with popular culture ands some are not.

Some of us are intellectuals and some are not.

We had MM. Marshall Mather of M&M fame. Some of us had no Idea who he was and most of us could care less, but I think it was a fair set of initials - it fit's under that term cultural literacy. I may not know some writer from the 17th century or the latest star of the Met, but I'm sure some of you do!

I think it's fun to learn about these people, so let's play the span. The more questions asked, the more fun! I love the Eureka! factor. I've guessed names that were famous, but I had no Idea who they were. I just heard of 'em!

There have been a few interesting names that I've wanted to use, but hesitated. I think we should go for them unless they are so obscure that no one but you would know them. Keeps it interesting.

My guess:
Jack Neitzche -- Good example! of above
