No. Both first names begin with M. (No L in the "adopted" initials. (adopted doesn't mean he was adopted.)
Both first names are the same

Under the circumstances, on this one if you suspect whom it might be but don't know what ML is, googleing is fine with me!

M L was the name he was born with. We know him by another name. It's not a household name, but if you know history or trivia, you've heard the name.

If I had given you the initials of the name he is commonly known by, you would have probably guessed it in one guess.

Are you all confused?

I'm looking for M L. (The name he was born with)

Most people know him as M. ___. A name he chose.

Oh, I was thinking the second adopted name was M but see it isn't. Well, still, I wander in a dark wood.

That sounds to me like I really need to know the M of the second name. But, heh, I don't.

I know this is a failure of imagination. Hmmm, is there a cook know as Mario?
Oh, I mean, a dead cook?

Dithering....
