If the theory Bree mentioned about a nation of immigrants, travelling and then coming home safely is so, why isn't it popular in Oz? We have the same background, generally!
There is baseball played, to a minor extent, in Oz. I used to watch it, with my grandmother, in a park near her place, many years ago. More recently, near this same park, is one of our favourite restaurants. We watched some baseball only a few weeks ago, after a Sunday lunch. This wasn't due to any interest in baseball, however, more related to blood alcohol levels and driving! But it was a lovely sunny day, and we were in no real hurry.
Yeah! Then howcome baseball is so popular in places people are trying to run
away from like- Cuba!!

margo, somehow I knew you were going to make that point about Australia being a nation of immigrants, too! All I can say is, there are quite a few Australians playing professional baseball in the U.S. these days, and they must have learned the game somewhere.
