Has anyone worked out 55D in the cryptic?
'Reach out to write on machine model'
I have -R--style
FREESTYLE fits but doesn't make sense.

Hi Willy
No, your answer isn't right.
The correct answer is ARCHETYPE (ARCHE - anagram of reach, TYPE - to write on machine)
Cheers

Thanks for that Tufdevil. I was way out wasn't I?
I figured it was style and couldn't get away from it.
I thought Freestyle sounded daft.

Hey Tufdevil,
Just noticed you are from Lancs.
I was a Lancashire lass born and bred, long time ago.

A lancashire lass, eh? Which part?
If you haven't been back for a long time, you probably wouldn't recognise it now....apart from the weather.
There have been a lot of changes, not many for the better.
Strangely enough, we were just having a nostalgia session, looking at books with pictures of Accrington, Clayton and Oswaldtwistle from the distant, and not so distant, past.
Good luck with the crossword.

G'day Tufdevil,
I am from St Margaret's near Heaton Park. We moved to North Wales and ran a boarding house for holiday makers till coming out to Australia. Here in Victoria we could use some of that Manchester weather, especially the wet stuff.
Where are you from?

Hi Willywagtail
I am from Accrington originally, spread my wings when I got married and went all the way to Blackburn! But returned to Accrington and have lived here ever since.
Driven past Heaton Park many times but only been in there once. Same number of times as Pope JPII in fact.
Where were you in North Wales? We used to go there quite a lot. Llandudno and Porthmadoc mainly. But everywhere we went seemed to take us through Betws-y-Coed.
So, do you eventually get tired of the sunshine? We go away to the sun for a few weeks every year and think it is wonderful. But we don't have to work in it. Mind you, when we get the occasional hot weather here, work is unbearable because no-one has air conditioning (apart from McDonalds and you can't spend all day there!).
I do hope to visit Aus one day. Apart from Sidney, where should I make sure I visit?
To Tufdevil
Hi Tufdevil,
would be happy to talk about Oz and Manchester but it would be better by email. Here isn't really the right place.

Hey Willy and Tufdevil -
Go to the Australia section of the main forum index. You can waffle on as much as you like there about your experiences - and we all get to read them and perhaps even add our bit here and there!!
Lezzles
