How embarassing. I misread the clue number 268A Humiliate as 262 on the grid. No wonder I couldn't get it right with the letters I had. Thanks Dutchy! Now I am tackling the Cryptic, heaven help me.
PS. Maybe time for new glasses.

A quick look and I reckon 28d is "upstaged"
34a = skip
40a = also
45a = eclectic
