Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?

I very much believe in the healing power of oxygen........but now, a local MD has acquired a giant, multi-place chamber in which a dozen people at a time, can get themselves saturated with oxygen, and though I know nothing about such chambers, it almost seems like "if a little is good for you, a whole lot must be stupendous"..........know what I mean?

I don't intend to use this service, as I'm totally healthy, but I'd like to understand it, and be more informed about it than I am now - which is minus zero.

Does anyone here have experience or info on this?

Hyperbaric chambers can be useful in treating surgical patients whose bodies have a hard time healing. They can also be used to stabalize a patient who has had severe trauma. They speed up blood flow thereby allowing the body to better heal itself.

I don't think they are for general issues though.

These are the conditions that use hyperbaric therapy that are paid for by insurance companies and Medicare. My neighbor, who has chronic pulmonary problems, had a wound that would not heal. He went for hyperbaric therapy that really helped him.

I remember a few years ago that gulping pure oxygen in oxygen bars was all the rage. I really wonder whether the doctor that you mentioned is simply looking for a money making gimmick.

That sure sounds like something hazardous, doesn't it? Thanks for the information, Phoenix.
