Would appreciate some assistance and confirmation that I have the following one correct.
If it is not correct, back to the drawing board for me.
Across 97 Profligate
Answer P?L?I??L (I came up POLTICAL )
Does that sound about right?
If so, time to break out the champagne as it is all finished.
Just dont want to celebrate too soon. ;-)
Many thanks
Regards

Hi EscaPod
Bring out that bottle and we'll have a toast!
I reckon "prodigal" fit the bill. Perhaps someone else will verify.
Cheers. Dutchy

Oooooh! That has put the spanner in the works.
I need major help now.
Prodigal is what I originally had but it stuffed up other ones.
I have changed around that area so many times it is a mess.
I will tell you what I have for the other surrounding ones and perhaps you might be able to tell me where and what I have wrong.
All the following are Down Clues which cross that Across 97 Profligate Clue.
79 Down Carefree and superficial F?????O?E (I put Footloose) The 5th letter meets the D if Prodigal is correct.
88 Down Small Petrel P?I?N (I put Prion) The 3rd letter meets the I.
94 Down Clergyman's vestment A?B (I put Alb) The 2nd letter L is the final letter.
93 Down Secret Agent S?Y (I put Spy) The 2nd letter P is the first letter of 97Across.
So if Spy, Footloose, Prion and Alb going down are all correct.
It ends up being P ? L ? I ? ? L
If Prodigal is right
(Footloose is the worry).... I need something going down with a D
87 Across Dunked S??P?D (I put SOPPED).. The 2nd letter forms 3rd letter O of Footloose.
I am going to have a drink now with dinner, even though it is a premature celebration. :-)

Hi escapePod
Try "frivolous" for 79d and see how you go.
Dutchy
Many thanks for your assistance.
Any others that have been following the crumb trail.
The end result is that 79 Down is Frivolous
87 Across is Dipped
97 Across is Prodigal
115 Across is Wistful
They were the major dramas.
Thanks again Dutchy.

Is 116 down spelt filigree or filagree? Both were in the dictionary, but I could not find which one was the english version and which was the american
Hi mrsgreen
My Encarta Concise English Dictionary gives it as 'filigree' and that is what I have submitted.
Dutchy
mrsgreen663
I also went with filigree in what I sent away.

Hello to one and all,
Re mrs. greens query about 106d, and she getting Telewriter,
I have just been completing my entry, and believe the answer to be
BELLWETHER.
Any other opinions, or is there a consensus on this as yet?
I haven't found anyone else's postings on this.
Have a good day.
