Jespah--

Will you be the Alpha Bitch for the A2K Non-Canadian Dog Pack? You can wear the satin gloves, a glitter, a little leather and carry a six foot bull whip, just for the sound effects.

Eoe--

Hurry back.

EhBeth--

Will you be belly dancing? In costume?

Eva--

Your appreciation of the requirements of our float are truly goddess-like.

Osso, you're cooking up a storm.

With such riches will you bother with a high tea?

Osso--

Given the respectable middle-class mantras of the day, I think recycling breakfast, elevenses and luncheon is acceptable for tea--high or low.

After all....ahem....we want the Midnight Supper to be memorable.

What will you be wearing to receive your well-deserved praise and plaudits?

Merry Andrew--

No problem. Would you mind carrying a couple balloons and a box of dog biscuits for the Canine Division?

If you'd rather not, say so.

Oh, I'll be happy to carry the balloons and especially the doggie treats, Noddy. I mean, I might get hungry and who knows how close Osso can bring that magnificent buffet. After all, this is shaping up to be an all day/all night affair.

Merry Andrew--

Very good. Do you mind marching next to Osso's Magnificent Buffet, alert and ready to distract the A2K wolf pack should distraction prove necessary?

Oh, sure, Noddy. I've been told I'm a very distractive person. I think.

Distractive? Distractred? Distracting? Destructive? Re-structured? Resurrected? Retractive? Overactive? Distraught? Fraight?

Well - it was one of those sort of words anyway!????

How right you are, Margo. It was one of 'em. (I particularly like 'distractred.' New one on me but I like it.)

Some piping hot suppli al telefono would be good on a cold day...
those are (usually) arborio rice balls filled with mozzarella, which strings out like a telephone line after you bite in..

There'll be some temaki (sushi wraps - that's paper around them in the photo) -

And finally, for this post, some fish and chips from the Duke of Perth, an A2K meeting place in Chicago. Walter might just happen to have a fish and chips photo from there.
Yep, there it is on the a2k Chicago gathering thread -

We could probably dispense with the peas on our snack trays...

We, in the proper celebration of Fat Tues., will be making Punchkieys (Fastnachts) or , for you Tex/Mex types, these are big fat sweet sopaipillas.
FRIED IN LARD.
Then we start the forty day fast.

Having lived well in NAwlins, I found that the years worst food was served during this time except for the biegnets, which were actually made as a sweeter dough during the two weeks before . I actually preffered em so and we could get them with the "sweet dough" all year if you knew the magic words. However, The brew at Cafe dumonde, I could take or leave because it was just coffee with scalded milk, nothing to write the folks about.

After Marid Gras, and all the puke was hosed off the streets, then life with good food and "bon tempe" resumed.

yes indeed. I took a nap earlier so Im now proofing the dough. We will bake at about 7AM and then the neighbors 'll be here with their appetites. Making fastnachts is easy but is a good treat, it officially opens "cabin fever" season
