available online tutors?

My daughter is looking for a Math tutor. We checked out Sylvan and Kuman and were impressed with what they offer, though the price seemed high. I'd like to be able to hire a tutor directly not hire a big company, if I can figure out how. What's the best way to find a qualified tutor?

Thanks

Jon.

I've seen ads for tutors on craigslist.org. People place their own ads and get responses directly. No big organization. However, you'd have to do a careful screening and evaluation of anyone who applies.

You might also consider contacting a nearby college or university. Undergraduate and graduate students are often available for tutoring.

Have your tried her school? Often an older advanced placement student will be available and sometimes teachers earn extra money by tutoring on weekends.
