Can anyone help me with info on how to reposition DVD subtitle overlays. I have several Andre Rieu DVDs and on three of them the second line of subtitles appear off the bottom of the screen when I select the correct screen format on our big wide screen TV. We have another smaller wide screen Toshiba LCD TV and it has an extra screen format called "Subtitle" that shifts the bottom of the picture up to allow the subtitles to be displayed. Two of the other DVDs of the same artist however have the subtitles positioned OK. I was wondering if when I made copies of the offending DVDs whether I could alter the text of an "ifo" file to allow the subtiles to be displayed fully within the picture. Its most annoying to have to change the screen format to allow the viewer to read what is said in the commentary between the numbers played. Power DVD 5 plays these DVDs OK (with subtitles positioned over the picture)on my computer. It would be so nice to correct this small anomaly.

I think it's the VOB files you need to edit. You could try DVDSubEdit which allows you to visualize and make modifications to the subpics (subtitles or button highlights in menus) directly inside the VOB files, without the need to demux and remux the subpic stream. It allows you to reposition your subtitles exactly where you want them, horizontally or vertically, for all display modes (4:3, widescreen, letterboxed, pan&scan).

User guides, much useful information about DVD subtitles and download here:-
