Pearls of Anger

My friend if you’re so religious
How come you can’t just let it go
You’re looking so prestigious
I know you do it all just for show

Throw your pearls of anger
While your friends bow and pray
They don’t know your love’s a stranger
To a better way

Come around here oh so pious
Furtive eyes roam on crablike stalks
Boast about your love for Jesus
Every Earthly thing you want just walks

And you throw your pearls of anger
As your friends bow and pray
They don’t know your love’s a stranger
To a better way

I believe you feel for Jesus
In a real and private way
But you act to deceive us
Through jealousy and hate

And you throw your pearls of anger
As your friends bow and pray
They don’t know your love’s a stranger
To a better way

When comes the final betrayal
You’d steal away like any petty thief
Your eyes evade face all pale
Your friends look on in disbelief

And you’ve sown your pearls of anger
As your friends bowed and prayed
They didn’t know your love’s a stranger
To a better way

Still you throw your pearls of anger
As your friends bow and pray
They don’t know your love’s a stranger
To a better way

Girl you whirl like a dancer
‘Til you’re the last one on the floor
I look but there’s no answer
And the crowd has left out the door

My eyes follow you
Then we’re lost in the dark
My senses follow you
Isn’t it true

Love’s a lonely dancer
Like me and you
Love’s the only answer
For me as you

Girl got to get into your life
The way you dance has got me sure
I pray that you’re no man’s wife
That would be a pain I can’t endure

My heart followed you
Now it’s lost in the dark
My senses yearn for you
Isn’t it true

Love’s the only answer
For me and you
Love’s my favorite answer
For me as you

The way you dance has got me sure
And it cuts me like a knife
The kind of pain I can’t endure

My heart followed you
It’s lost somewhere in the dark
My senses yearn for you
Isn’t it true

For me and you
Love’s my favorite answer

The End of the Circle

When you reach the end of a circle
You become as you began
It's there the baby in the cradle
Becomes one with the dying man

Every life move is quicksilver
A stream that has no bed
You meet the riddle with no answer
A hunger that must be fed

But
Before you reach the end of the circle
Gather roses if you can
Join hands in a chain of circles
Join the brotherhood of man

Every life move is quicksilver
A stream that has no bed
You meet the riddle with no answer
A hunger that must be fed

And: No matter what you do
When you reach the end of a circle
You become as you began
It's there the baby in the cradle
Becomes one with the dying man

When you come to the end of a circle
You’ll be the same as you began
It’s there the baby in the cradle
Becomes one with the dying man

Every life move is quicksilver
A stream that has no bed
You meet the riddle with no answer
A hunger that must be fed

But
Before you reach the end of the circle
Gather roses if you can
Join friends in a chain of circles
Celebrate the brotherhood of man

Every life move is quicksilver
A stream that has no bed
You meet the riddle with no answer
A hunger that must be fed

And: No matter what you do
When you reach the end of a circle
You become as you began
Where the baby in the cradle
Becomes one with the dying man

White Chocolate, Blue Roses

White chocolate, blue roses, and sad melodies
Dancing alone, drinking sweet wine, sleeping - not yet
White chocolate, blue roses, and bad memories
Texting your phone, dreaming you’re mine, weeping - that’s next

I’ll toast the moon I’ll wink at the stars through my tears
Holding the dark close in my arms, waltzing - with you
Feeling your charms through imagining my dear
Was that the telephone that I heard, Oh please - but boo hoo

White chocolate, blue roses, and sad melodies
Calling your name, into the night, sleeping - not yet
White chocolate, blue roses, and bad memories
Texting your phone, dreaming you’re mine, weeping - oh yes

I have dubbed this thread "Unpublished Lyrics" but in reality, some have appeared in books. The Share My Lyrics site is about to self publish a book via Lulu that will contain some of mine also.

White Cadillac and a Pink Carnation

He gave to her a white Cadillac,
Pink carnation, even a cattle ranch
All on the very first date
She gave to him a demure little smile,
A peck on the cheek, and a firm hand shake,
All on the very same date
The contest was on

He gave to her a big diamond ring,
Eighteen yellow roses, and a wedding invite
All on the very next date
She gave to him a demure little smile,
A peck on the cheek, and a firm handshake,
All on the very same date
The contest went on

He gave to her a mansion on a hill,
White gardenias, and a honeymoon cruise
All on their wedding day
She gave to him a demure little smile,
A peck on the cheek, and a firm handshake,
All on the very same day
The contest was won

He gave to her half a billion bucks,
Two forget-me-nots, and a quickie de-vorce
All on their final day
She gave to him a demure little smile,
A peck on the cheek, and a firm handshake
All on the very same day
It was no contest at all

I wrote this the week after the fall of Saigon. My first wife was hostile to it, but I do what I do, regardless of what others think.

The Vietnam War
Was over last week
Something to ignore
Nothing so to speak
Ho Chi Minh City
Is on the map now
It's ugly as pretty as before anyhow
It invades my dreams
Inside my head it screams
White ghosts over fields
Of bones piled up in hills
Helicopter wrecked
Surprised nobody checked
Like some drunken whore
Who fell down to the floor
Who was it for
This Vietnam War

One to Zero

Never claims to be a victim
Never becomes a hero
He’s the kind that just goes from one
To being a zero

Living in the cracks of society
Where riot troops roam the streets
He turns his works of art from refuse
Which he hides from everyone he meets

Never rides in rush hour traffic
Absent from daily roll calls
He may or may not smoke a j
But he offers anyone that calls

Never claims to be a victim
Never becomes a hero
He’s the kind that just goes from one
To being a zero

Dirt water blonde knock upon the door
Fresh from a week on the streets
He lets the girl have the bedroom floor
She finishes off all of his eats

They walk the sidewalks just looking
He’s got his pack on his back
They gather up all they can find
Yes and that’s a natural fact

Never claims to be a victim
Never becomes a hero
He’s the kind that just goes from one
To being a zero

He pays tribute to Vincent Van Gogh
While living most like Rimbaud
Sometimes he smokes a crooked old pipe
Most times he hides from the mirror

He does a funny little dance
He does it only for her
He laughs when she gives him a smile
He wants to have her for a lover

Never claims to be a victim
Never becomes a hero
He’s the kind that just goes from one
To being a zero

I’ve never seen a face that could not smile
Never heard a voice that could not sing
I’d never be the force that breaks your heart
Cheer up; you’ll always be my everything

I’ve been around you long enough to know now
My heart breaks to see you cold and sad
Dear I learn to care for you more and more now
Please don’t look as though I’ve gone mad

I’ve never seen a face as sad as yours
Never heard a voice so low and down
I realize you fear to trust your heart
Heads up; I’m here to be your favorite clown

I’ve been around you more than forever dear
I won’t let you grow old all alone
Sweetie I’ve learned that the future is never clear
It can’t erase how close we’ve grown

Cheer up; you’ll always be my everything

I posted this on an earlier page, but a few lines are different now.

This is the latest edition of your life
Another tale to be told or sung
It's like my favorite version of them all
The hero's entirely too young
for you

Each new chapter has you with your friends
And I'm waiting home all alone
And so missing your voice and the songs you sing
Wondering what I did that's so wrong

Tell me Tell me Tell me
You were my hero
Yesterday
Tell me Tell me Tell me
What did I know
anyway

I couldn't wait six months for the paperback
Hard cover cost thirty bucks
Took it home read it through a sleepless night
My heart ran over by thirty trucks

I read about the way you like em tall and blond
Lookin like a movie star
Movin club to club all around the town
In your so famous touring car

Tell me Tell me Tell me
You were my hero
Yesterday
Tell me Tell me Tell me
What did I know
Anyway

Waiting for you to crash and burn one final time
Your body lying at my door
All your friends have left you for a brighter star
You begging to sleep on my floor

Waiting until your burning ashes cease to smoke
Yearning to hug you to my heart
Closing the book taking up my pen to write
Looking sage wonder where to start

Tell me Tell me Tell me
You were my hero
Yesterday
Tell me Tell me Tell me
What did I know
Anyway

i'm always reading- but sometimes weird about posting
thank you, though. i get great inspiration from your work
i always leave wishing i could get in a car and head off down the road
with Led Zep playing on the deck and a hippy chick standing with her thumb out
just over the next rise Wink
- for some reason it happens every time!

Seriously though - there is a great depth of feeling coming across.
I value that as a reader

My Pearls of Anger lost me some regular readers on one website. Well, I am sure they mistook it as anti-religion, but it was just anti-hypocrite.

Mexico Linda

Mexico Linda
Can you come out today
We’ll sit on your veranda
And watch the children play

We’ll sip tequila
And talk about old days
Good times before policia
Took your love away

Oh our good days are all over
So we only talk about the past
If we both were much younger
When our lives were such a blast

Mexico Mexico Mexico Linda
Mexico Mexico Mexico Linda
Our lives were such a blast

Mexico Linda
Your lover was a man
First one at the corrida
Last one when others ran

Loved a fiesta
Lazy autumn days
Good times before policia
Took him dead away

Oh our good days are all over
So we only talk about the past
If we both were much younger
When our lives were such a blast

Mexico Linda
The breeze is soft and warm
If you’d like to linger
Won’t do us any harm

We’ll sip our tequila
And dream about old days
Help me turn my wheelchair
From sun’s dying rays

Oh our good days are all over
So we only talk about the past
If we both were much younger
When our lives were such a blast

Mexico Mexico Mexico Linda
Mexico Mexico Mexico Linda
Our lives were such a blast

My Self Destructive Life

Chorus l
Don’t wear black for me
From love or sympathy
My self-destructive life’s
Been a troubadour’s delight

Verse l
Hoist up a round or three
Drink to clown called destiny
Don’t say a prayer
Never have been a Main Street player

Chorus ll
Don’t bring flowers and wreaths
Choke over memories
My self-destructive life’s
Been a troubadour’s delight

Bridge
Once you were a love to me
Found how warm a home could be
Our feet went on fire
Too indiscreet to be a liar

Verse ll
Set up a round again
Drink it with a smile my friend
Who knows the whole truth
Never believe it without the proof

Chorus lll
Don’t carve a monument
Pay the poor children’s rent
My self-destructive life’s
Been a vagabond’s delight

And I never did find the cure
That’s why I’m back on the road
Girl I left behind’s a wildflower
She never could a cracked my code

And I just had to steal away
If she’s unhappy to see me go
Well I may live to get old and grey
I’m still gonna be just as gone

Wildflower I had to steal away
Couldn’t stay another day
With you Wildflower
I’ll miss you Wildflower

I don’t keep old memories
For I’m like a rolling stone
While something from your eyes convinces me
I could one day be proven wrong

But I’ll never make the same mistake
Where other girls are concerned
I’ll find a girl whose heart I just can’t break
That’s the lesson I have learned

Wildflower I had to steal away
Couldn’t stay another day
With you Wildflower
I’ll miss you Wildflower

And Wildflower I just had to steal away
Wildflower had to steal away
