Message to Bob
Ah but if the wind don`t blow no more
Oh my friend
I dreamed of a world
Where the willow don`t bend
Where the sails aren`t curled
And the flags stay furled
Where the sands don`t sift
And the clouds don`t drift
So the sun can make a rainbow`s end
But if the wind don`t blow no more
Where went the answers we`re searching for
But if the wind don`t blow no more
Why are we waiting What are we waiting for
My dreams drove like a kite in the wind
The kite dispelled
We`d gone to a world
Where every breeze had failed
Where the breath of guns
Were the only ones
Could move any air
In the atmosphere
Destruction and death were widely hailed
I awoke to a hint of wind
Oh my friend
I sprang from my bed
To see a group of men
Clawing for their breath
Contemplating death
For the wind scarcely moves
Any more It proves
How nearly real the dream world had been
But if the wind don`t blow no more
Oh my friend
Where are the answers we`re searching for
But if the wind don`t blow no more
Why are we waiting What are we waiting for
George Harrison
He`s dead
He`s safely dead
No more bummed out feelings
For his body and his head
I would not mind
If he`d took his time
And stayed around instead.
Some opt to paint it black
He only sought the sun
His mind went off to the east
his body couldn`t come
The love he`d find
He made the time
And gave us some
He taught us how to gain the world
And save our mind
With all that fame
And yet remained
So quiet and kind
What if he`d changed his mind
But I know he won`t be back this time
One Star, One Candle, One Stocking
I walked up to your house last night
It was dark but you turned on a light
You said to me I'm so all alone
If you stay I will be all right
Would you like to see my Christmas lights
There was one star
One candle
One stocking was hung
I saw a tear you sought to hide
You said forgive me my foolish pride
There was one star
One candle
One stocking was hung
I walked up to your house last night
It was dark but you turned on a light
You said to me we two are so alone
If you stay it will be all right
We could throw up more Christmas lights
And make it two stars
Two candles
Two stockings were hung
And kiss away the tears we've cried
Make love all through the silent night
To the glow of two stars
Two candles
Two stockings were hung
Great thread, edgar
I like 'Old Tigers' very much
Your Life
This is the latest edition of your life
Another tale to be told or sung
It's like my favorite version of them all
The hero's entirely too young
for you
Each new chapter has you with your friends
And I'm waiting home all alone
And so missing your voice and the songs you sing
Wondering what I did that's so wrong
Hero hero hero
You were my hero
Yesterday
Hero hero hero
What did I know
anyway
I couldn't wait six months for the paperback
Hard cover cost thirty bucks
Took it home read it through a sleepless night
My heart ran over by thirty trucks
I read about the way you like em tall and blond
Lookin like a movie star
Movin club to club all around the town
In your so famous touring car
Hero hero hero
You were my hero
Yesterday
Hero hero hero
What did I know
Anyway
Waiting for you to crash and burn one final time
Your body lying at my door
All your friends have left you for a brighter star
You begging to sleep on my floor
Waiting until your burning ashes cease to smoke
Yearning to hug you to my heart
Closing the book taking up my pen to write
Looking sage wonder where to start
Hero hero hero
You were my hero
Yesterday
Hero hero hero
What did I know
Anyway
A Gunfighter Ballad
His spurs were jingling
When he boldly pushed through the door
He was tall and quick
Stalkin' across the sawdust floor
Old leather chaps
Were bound upon his legs,
His gun was hanging low
It was like a tornado
Through the old town about to blow
He said his name was Killer Sam
And don't berate his name
He could shoot as quick he said
As any in the game
His eyes were blue and clear
When he looked into my face
If there was any yella there
I saw not a trace
He drank his whiskey slow
And he watched the swinging door
He spoke no more words
He didn't seem to see us anymore
We all could feel
A war was bound to start
If anyone came in
It was like a tornado
Through the town ready to blow
"At last it's time" said Killer Sam
He walked back to the door
Outside we heard a hoof beat
The clock read ten to four
He walked out in the street
And we heard a voice repeat
"I warned you countless times
You'll die when next we meet"
We crowded at the window
Some watched it through the swinging door
The stranger sauntered
Twenty paces perhaps a few steps more
His sombrero
Kept his eyes in shadow
We heard him whistling low
It was like a tornado
Through the town starting to blow
"Fill your hand" he told Killer Sam
He leaned into the breeze
Well Killer Sam won the draw
And he did that with ease
His gun it loudly barked
And the stranger shot his round
Then Sam turned to us
He fell dead on the ground
His spurs were jingling
Atop the coffin rolling to Boot Hill
He was lowered quick
And some shovels tossed in the fill
A wooden cross
Got pounded in the ground
The wind it whistled cold
It was like a tornado
Had come and then ceased to blow
He'd said his name was Killer Sam
And don't berate his name
He could shoot as quick he said
As any in the game
His eyes were blue and clear
When he looked into my face
If there was any yella there
I saw not a trace
Missing You (California Nights)
v1
When the trees are bare
`Cause the leaves aren't there;
With the season's change
Snow's across the range;
I think of you on that western shore
v2
I dream of blazing nights,
The California lights -
You out there with Jim.
I missed you back when;
Tonight, Love, I miss you even more.
chorus
(Miss you baby)
The cows are waiting by the gate
The horses milling cause you're late
(They miss you baby)
Cutting your roses by the gate
I like to view them o'er my dinner plate
(I miss you baby)
Tonight I'll see you in my dreams
v3
I miss your dancing eyes
Before Montana skies;
Since you went with him
Give my best to Jim.
Who would think you'd even the score?
v4
I see the shadows grow;
I hear the cattle low;
Yes I chose the range
Because the heart can change -
But I'll remember you on that western shore.
you write about love in a moonlit field so very well, Edgar
I see that amber glow of summer nights - hell, I can almost smell the hay!
I consider that about as well written as I am capable of. I personally love it.
War on a Sunny Day
The war on a sunny day
How we march and play
How we make them pay
War on a sunny day
Uniforms crispy neat
Seem cool in prickly heat
Boom make them sound retreat
War on a sunny day
War on a sunny day
How we make them pay
How we march and play
The war on a sunny day
Red soon turn to gray
That's when we turn away
War's for a sunny day
The war on a bleary day
Store the guns away
Hide cause the sky's all gray
I am not altogether satisfied that this is the best this lyric can be. Will perhaps revise it a few times down the road.
She`s a child of coal black rainbows
Staring at a fogged up window
She`s the girl with a crack in her soul
In her life no dreams, no heaven
In her time not warmth, not even
Can`t feel enough to sense the cold
Seems like the night`s melting away
Seems like her heart`s only clay
His dirty cash upon the bed
Wordlessly turned away her head
When he`s finished he must have to go
In her life it seems it`s over
In her time there is no cover
Even the best times pass too slow
Seems like life`s melting away
Seems like her heart`s only clay
Once there was a girl
Living just for fun
The cotton candy world
Became a lonely one
Seems like she`s melting away
Seems her heart`s only clay
Her Tommy comes into the room
And she bows to him in the gloom
He plays to the crack in her soul
He`s replaced her dreams, her heaven
Picks up the cash she`s been given
Tells her to work harder for more gold
Seems like at last he`s melting away
Seems like her heart`s only clay
Once there was a girl
Living just for fun
The cotton candy world
Became a lonely one
Seems like she`s melting away
Seems her heart`s only clay
Seems like the night`s melting away
Seems like her heart`s only clay
Don Quixote
Don Quixote's in the parlor
Stiffly in his armor
He doesn't want your tea
Says he vainly fought some giants
But has no complaints
"It was a day's work for me"
I told him, "Crazy little punk
You're a fool for all that spunk
Why not go home, you're tired now
That lame old horse is dying
And Sancho Panza's crying
Please release me from my vow"
Don Quixote Don Quixote
de la Mancha
Tired of your mantra
Go on home Don Quixote
All the world is a minefield
And you're going to have to yield
Go on home now and take your bed
You don't know cows from great monsters
Citadels from dumpsters
Your impossible dreams have fled
Dulcinea the simpleton
Has reduced you to a crumb
And your lance has become a crutch
I know you're a pious man
But you've stood your final stand
You're like a van without a clutch
Don Quixote Don Quixote
de la Mancha
Tired of your mantra
Go on home Don Quixote
Daisy Plumtree, Outlaw
Daisy Plumtree was a lusty one,
She loved an old buffalo gun.
She'd shoot her round,
Then stand her ground,
Where many men might run.
If her ways was rough and raw,
She learned it from her paw;
Who killed eight men,
Then made it ten,
Which set his fate with the law.
She was Daisy Missy Plumtree
Rough and ready
Rode the outlaw trail
To rob the outbound mail
Missy Daisy Daisy Plumtree
(repeat)
She went on the lam in Mexico
And fell in with Two Feathers Crow
She leaned her gun
In Crow's wigwam
Made from hides of buffalo
But the soldiers killed her man
He was crossing the Rio Grande
Daisy got hung
Before she swung
Said Daisy Crow is who I am
She was Daisy Missy Plumtree
Rough and ready
Rode the outlaw trail
To rob the outbound mail
Missy Daisy Daisy Plumtree
(repeat)
Read Daisy Plumtree, Outlaw on Endymion's thread, edgar. Didn't realize you wrote it. I like it.

I did it for endy, but I am trying to get all my lyrics together here.
