Hi

Have come up with the answer SPRING for the Cluedoku
but not very confident.

Is this the answer?

I notice in the "Dear Christine/Page 6 & 7, a lot of people have
complained about the inclusion of the Cluedoku. I have to admit
that I don't like it. Might be better if they didn't include it with
prizes (that you must provide an answer) but just as a puzzle you
can do later in the book if you want to. Think those of us who are not
happy with the Cluedoku in the Big should let Lovatts know that we don't like it.

Best regards
Tigiie

p.s. I have finished The Demon easily this time, was it easy for you too?
Let us all know (perhaps I should just shut up as the next one will be
harder and I will have to ask for lots of help).

Best Regards
Tigiie

Hi Tigiie

Your answer 'spring' is correct.

I agree with you about the 'cluedoko', should never have been a prize puzzle, if enough people complain Lovatts may discontinue with it I feel.

Done my bit and sent them an e-mail suggesting the above.

Regards Dutchy.

january big cluedoko
Hi Tigiie & Dutchy
I also have SPRING but cheated slightly. I got my daughter to work it out as she is good at the Sudokos. Where there's a will there's a way.
So we are correct again

Hi Dutchy and Tuesday

I sent Lovatts an e-mail last night about the Cludoko as well,
telling them they could leave it in there for people who want
to do it but don't offer a prize on it. I told them also that I
wouldn't be doing it as I don't like it, I prefer all of the other
puzzles.

They must have got a few e-mails last night.

Hope they don't replace it with the Sudoko so that I don't
have to go through all of this again (I don't like Sudoko
either).

Best regards

Tigiie

Isnt there anyone who likes them? Personally, I think they are great, because most of the other ones are very easy to finish off, and the cluedoko actually takes time and thought, which is what I want for the money I pay... guess I am the odd one out then lol Crying or Very sad

Every one has their pet puzzles, you're not the odd one out, and are perfectly entitled to your choice mrsgreen663. Smile

Hi Mrsgreen663 and Dutchy

I liked The Big Puzzle book as it was.

I think there is a special book for Cluedoko and Sudoko.

Lovatts are just trialling the Cluedoko in the Big but I
think they have come up against a lot of opposition
and may reverse it (I hope so).

Happy New Year

Tigiie

Dear Tigiie,

Yes, the answer to January Clueoku is 'Spring'. I see you have had several reply's but I would will to add my view point. I enjoy Clueoku and hope that Lovetts keep it in as a contest.

Re: JANUARY BIG - CLUEDOKU
I can't do those Sudoku puzzles for the life of me. Athough I do understand how they work.
Maybe it's a way for Lovatt's to get the younger people involved in crosswording (my daughter, like others, can do them in minutes).

What I don't understand from reading here and the 'Dear Christine' page in the crossword book is why people are so upset about it being a crossword competition. It isn't taking away any other competition that we usually enter. And you don't 'have to' fill in all competition answers to be eligable for prizes. If you don't like it (as I don't), just skip that one.

I say keep it. As christine says in the edtitorial in the new Colossus, we should keep our brains active. One day I will master them without throwing a tantrum, honest I will.
Come on ladies, we do cryptics for heavens sake. Why can't we master this horrible logic thing? Embarrassed And why are we kicking up such a stink about it?
